YAY! I'm so excited! I just got an email from the University of Michigan and I was accepted! For those of you who don't know me IRL, U of M was my top choice... and really really hard to get into if you're white.
I know, it's some stupid affirmative action thing... while they legally can't call it that, there was a lawsuit a few years back and now they have to accept a bunch of minorities... making it a lot harder to get into if you're a middle-class white kid like me.

This whole entry is gonna be kinda spontaneous... I was gonna make one a couple weeks into November and update everyone on what's happening, but I've been lazy. So it'll just be that much longer. LOL.

So, where did I leave off? Halloween. That's it. So, the weekend of Halloween was really exciting for me. First off, we got the actual day off because it was the end of the marking period at school. Which means my weekend started on Thursday 10/30. We had a marching band "season finale" that night... called the Colt Spectacular. And in my 3 years of being in it, it was the best received of all of them. We ended with a "special surprise" - a performance of the song Thriller (by "Wacko Jacko" as he's known now). We had like half the band recreating the dance break from the music video... complete with strobe lights and stuff. Everyone loved it.
The next day, (Halloween itself), wasn't boring either. It started with me frantically setting up... I had to "carve" my pumpkin still... put up decorations, etc. That night we had quite an impressive turnout, and we literally got MULTIPLE people saying how much they loved our house. I'm not trying to brag... but yet I am :P It was also funny, I put Thriller on my annual Halloween mix-CD (see the previous entry)... and some of the marching band members who were trick-or-treating in the area stopped by and complimented us on the music. Halloween and Christmas are really the only two times of year I can decorate stuff (since I have no fashion sense whatsoever and usually only make them worse!), so I go all out and use all the lights and stuff we have. LOL
I know something happened on the first of November, too, but I don't remember it because it was a while ago LOL

After that, well... I've just been chilling, really. Though my life's been pretty much set now... I've had my Eagle award, and now I got accepted to my two top college choices (so now I just have to pick between the two!). I actually went to someone else's Eagle Court of Honor... and the Scoutmaster was saying something about how he wishes more people were like me and didn't leave their Eagle projects until right before they turned 18, LOL (Once you turn 18 you can't be in Scouting anymore so if you don't finish your Eagle project by then it's too late) Now all that's left is to get that HDTV my parents said we'd get once I got my Eagle. At this rate I just gotta hope they get it before I go off to college... XD

Anyway, I also got a new cellphone. That was my mom's "reward" for getting my Eagle project finished. She kept bugging me to finish it, and eventually she offered me a new cellphone when I did. So after the paperwork was done, and my Board of Review was official... we headed over to Verizon. I really liked my old Motorola v325i, IMO it was a much better flip-phone than the Razr (which is essentially the same thing, but flatter and "sleeker"... though also slightly more annoying to use for the same reason)
Since I kinda got screwed over with the Motorola in that I had to do quite a bit of hacking it before I could get free ringtones and the like, I went on HowardForums, probably the only big cellphone forum. I asked about the current models and what all you could do with them... and pretty much had it narrowed down when I got there.
So I decided on the LG EnV², model number VX-9100. That's what I think is becoming the new Razr... the "cool" new phone everyone's getting. But I didn't get it for that reason... it was the best value and feature set of the phones they offered. I didn't want a PDA, but didn't want a simplistic one either.
The EnV² has both in one - the front of it (when closed) is a normal phone's pad... with the numbers and such. But open it, and it's a keyboard. I hate the phones with JUST a keyboard, as IMO it makes it harder to use as a PHONE... which kinda defeats the purpose, no? So far, I've been really happy with the EnV². It's WAY more customizable than the Motorolas, since it's fully supported by BitPim - an open-source cellphone file transfer program. Not only can I get free ringtones, but I'm learning how to get free games and tools... etc. And I can use it as a mobile Internet connection for laptops, as I could my old one. (Useful for when my friends bring laptops to school. XD) (And by the way... if anyone has an EnV² and wouldn't mind helping me beta test stuff (which would help me and others get free programs!), please let me know... I know plenty of people with that phone but I don't think any of them want me grabbing files off of it.)

So, in December, not too much happened... but oh, yeah. Black Friday.

Black Friday was fun. My mom said I could get up insanely early and go shopping on "Black Friday" (That's the day after Thanksgiving for you non-Americans) if I wanted to... as I had never done it before and my parents had no interest. I went on a Black Friday site that had all the store's sales listed, and decided on Target. They opened at 6AM that day, so I had to get up at 5. My 12-year old sister apparently wanted to go, too, so she went with me. I just drove my mom's minivan over there... and I was surprised to see it packed before they even opened. I got there about 5:50, and the line was HUGE. I took a video on my phone... it literally took a minute and a half to get to the back of it. But unfortunately I didn't save it, since I accidentally closed the phone :(
The main deal I was determined to get was the new Guitar Hero game, World Tour. They had the Wii bundle (that comes with a guitar) for $59.99, if I'm correct it usually retails for around $100. So when we finally got in, my sister and I ran right to the video games aisle... and those games weren't there. So instead we grabbed the Aerosmith bundle that came with two guitars that was $100 (usually $150). I also got some stuff like Boom Blox for $20, some DVDs for $4.99 and 7.99... including Rush Hour 3 and Across the Universe. Finally, I saw a sales rep walking over to the video game aisle with a stack of about 10 of the Guitar Hero games so I went and grabbed one, and got the heck out of the area. 5 minutes later they were all gone. LOL.
So what can I say? That was my first ever Black Friday experience, and it was worth it. I got half my Christmas shopping out of the way and got myself some cool stuff. And who doesn't like waking up obscenely early, getting home by 7:30 and going back to bed? *hides*

So let's see. What else is there to talk about?

My school schedule isn't too bad... I have band (pssh, I don't even count it as a real class LOL), Physics 2 (it's a fun class where you get to build stuff), Calculus AB/AP (Weirdly enough, I have a middle A in that class... so despite it being "hard", I have the first A in a math class I've had since middle school!), Physics C AP (Oh God, that's the one class I actually struggle in and somehow I have a solid B. I just have to pray I don't fail the AP), then Film as Literature (Watching movies in school, fun!), and College Prep English. We aren't doing anything in English all semester, so I just watch movies on my Zune every day. I've finished about 5 now and am currently on Back to the Future!

Anyway, it's getting kinda late. I should wrap it up. (But who's still reading, anyway? My entries are ridiculously long... I know!)

Well, anyway, I'm just super-happy that I got into the University of Michigan! I was really nervous when people like :iconschlenkster: got in and I didn't hear from them. I guess it's better late than never, though, right? I'll keep you all posted on my college journey later!

On other news, I'm getting an Xbox 360 this weekend! I have a bunch of money saved up, and I just really wanted one. And I know a guy who now works at E.B. Games, and this weekend is "employee appreciation weekend", so they can get 25% off consoles! So he's hooking me up with one... meaning I can get the Pro package for only $225. How awesome is that? I know it was a bit sudden and not even a Christmas gift, but who can complain about randomly getting an Xbox? LOL
Any game suggestions, let me know. Or if you know how to mod, XD

--Edit--

OK, here's a new site I just made for my Christmas mixes.

Let me know what you think!

Well, sorry for boring you to death,
DRF out!

PS - I promise I'll write the REALLY long journal later! I have to write a journal entry covering the good part of a year... from Christmas 2007 until about November when this entry started. I've been writing bits and pieces of it at a time... and never got to finishing it.
